If there is any truth in legend, big events were staged here as early as the 12th century. It is said to be here that the the great emperor Frederick Barbarossa attended a performance of that most famous of all medieval German dramas, the ‘ludus de antichristo’ written by a monk from Tegernsee in honour of Frederick I.
The tile fresco on the wall of the guesthouse commemorates this event and the famous guest.
